  • Today's Luxor, located on the Nile in Upper Egypt, flourished on the site of ancient Thebes, one of the most important cities in the country's history. Historians estimate that it was listed as the largest city in the world twice in its history - the first time around 1980 BC, when it overtook the city of Ur, the capital of ancient Mesopotamia, and again around 1400 BC when it overtook Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt.

Tour to Karnak Temple

Tour to Karnak Temple

  • Your first stop will be the famous Karnak Temple, the most prominent place of worship ever built, dating back over two thousand years. You will explore the complex of temples, including the impressive "Hypostyle Hall" with its colossal pillars.
  • The most important monument of Luxor is the Karnak Temple Complex, where temples are dedicated to Theban gods. The largest and most important of them is the one dedicated to the god, Amon.
  • The Karnak temple visit is, of course, a must-see on every tourist's list while visiting Egypt. With an experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate guide, our guests visit the Karnak Open Air Museum. The Karnak tours last about two hours because the Karnak Temple Complex occupies a huge area with temple complexes erected by several Egyptian rulers.

The Colossi of Memnon are two gigantic statues of Amenophis III that presided over his funerary temple on the west bank of the Nile at Luxor. The statues, built 3,400 years ago, show the pharaoh at ease, hands on his knees, gazing at the rising sun. His mother, Queen Mutemwiya, and his wife, Queen Tiy, are sculpted on the lower part of the statues.

Tour to the Valley of the Kings

Tour to the Valley of the Kings

  • and then explore the Valley of the Kings, where you'll visit three magnificently decorated tombs carved deep into the desert rock. The Valley of the Kings, Wadi Biban el Muluk, has excited the interest and imagination of countless visitors over thousands of years.
  • The rulers of the Eighteenth, Nineteenth, and Twentieth Dynasties of Egypt’s prosperous New Kingdom (c.1550–1069 BC) were buried in a desolate valley across the River from the ancient city of Thebes (modern Luxor), hence its modern name of the Valley of the Kings. The Valley of the Kings is divided into the East and West Valleys. The eastern is by far the more iconic of the two, as the western valley contains only a handful of tombs. In all, the Valley of the Kings includes over sixty tombs and an additional twenty unfinished ones that are little more than pits.

Excellent trip to Luxor in ancient Egypt

Posted by Craig Wilkinson on 22nd Jul 2024

We arrived in Safaga on a spectacular cruise ship and embarked on a beautiful private day trip to Luxor. We decided to book with them again based on our fantastic experience with Landious Travel during our previous trip to Cairo. True to form, everything was flawlessly coordinated. Our driver was exceptional, ensuring our journey from Safaga to Luxor and back was comfortable and safe. In Luxor, we were accompanied by an incredibly knowledgeable English-speaking Egyptologist for the entire day. His insights into ancient Egyptian high culture were remarkable, and his passion for the subject was palpable. Notably, he took us to off-the-beaten-path locations, far from the tourist crowds, which made our experience all the more special. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment. We recommend Landious and would not hesitate to book with them again for future trips to Egypt. Outstanding!!

Great trip to Luxor, super organized

Posted by Lynette Fay on 21st Jul 2024

While visiting Egypt, we were determined to immerse ourselves in the local culture. Since we had seen the pyramids on a day trip, we arranged an excursion to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings with Landious Travel. The planning and communication via Whats App in English went seamlessly. We were joined by a family friend who was staying at a different hotel in Hurghada. Our day began early, with a 5:00 a.m. pickup from our hotel for the 4-hour journey to Luxor in a private bus. Along the way, our English-speaking tour guide shared fascinating insights about life in Egypt. Our first stop was the awe-inspiring Karnak Temple, which enchanted us. Next, we enjoyed a brief motorboat ride on the Nile, which provided a refreshing break from the heat. We then had a delightful lunch at an authentic restaurant. Our exploration led us to the Valley of the Kings, where we marvelled at Ramses I, III, and IV tombs—originally scheduled to visit the Temple of Hatshepsut. However, we chose to visit the Mortuary Temple of Ramses III. We appreciated the tranquillity, shade, and sheer magnificence of the temple. Before returning to our hotel, we briefly stopped at the Colossi of Memnon, capping off a fulfilling day. Overall, our trip was nothing short of fantastic. The flawless communication, reasonable pricing, knowledgeable guide, and enthralling experience gave us deep insights into Egyptian culture and held our attention throughout the journey.

    Unforgettable impressions

Posted by Maggie Doyle on 21st Jul 2024

During our private tour to Luxor, we had an incredible experience. Our driver, Ibrahim, was courteous, friendly, and a great companion throughout our journey. Upon arriving in Luxor, our knowledgeable English-speaking tour guide, an Egyptologist, joined us and collaboratively planned the day's itinerary with us. Instead of visiting the Temple of Hatshepsut, we opted to explore the Mortuary Temple of Ramses the Third, and we're so glad we did. Our guide's expertise brought the temple to life as they shared fascinating insights and showed us many intriguing features. Their passion for Egyptian history made the tour both captivating and educational. Lunch at a restaurant on the Nile provided a delightful culinary experience. The delicious food and the picturesque view made it a memorable meal. Additionally, thanks to our guide's strategic planning, we visited the Valley of the Kings and its tombs before the arrival of the tourist groups, giving us a more intimate and personal experience. Our trip to Luxor was terrific; we would eagerly embark on it again.

    Impressive excursion to Luxor

Posted by Richard Branson on 20th Jul 2024

During our family trip to Luxor, organised by Landious Travel via WhatsApp, we had an incredible experience. We started our journey at 3:30 a.m. when our drivers picked us up from our hotel, Jaz Solaya, in Marsa Alam. Due to local regulations, the six-hour trip to Luxor, which included a detour through Safaga, was made comfortable with cold drinks available in our private vehicle. Upon arrival in Luxor, our tour guide joined us and skillfully organised our tours to avoid large crowds. We visited the Valley of the Kings, where we often found ourselves among very few other tourists and even had moments of solitude in the burial chambers. Our guide's extensive knowledge of Egyptian history and hieroglyphs, shared in perfect English, made our trip informative and engaging. Our guide impressed us with his insights from the Karnak Temple to the Nile crossing, the Memnon Colossi, and other historical sites. Despite the scorching 36-degree heat outside, we were well cared for with plenty of drinks. We particularly thank our guide and Landious Travel for creating such a memorable experience.

Perfect excursion into a millennia-old history

Posted by Jonathan Bejamin on 19th Jul 2024

For our first holiday in Egypt, we wanted to immerse ourselves in the history of ancient Egypt and visit Luxor and the pyramids of Giza. We had read a lot of positive things about Landious Travel beforehand and therefore booked both tours and transport to and from the airport here. However, this review only refers to Luxor. Everything was perfect, from the communication beforehand, which initially took place by email and later conveniently via WhatsApp, to the transport to our private tour with an Egyptologist. We were picked up at the hotel in El Gouna at 5:00 a.m. Our driver briefly informed us about the course of the journey, and then we set off through the still-dark desert towards Luxor. Three and a half hours later, an Egyptologist and our guide met us in Luxor and explained the schedule for the day. Our guide was an absolute stroke of luck for us. He planned the day so we were at every sight before the crowds or the crowds had just come from there. This meant that we could enjoy the places and his tremendous and detailed explanations of the history in a way that is certainly not usual. The tour was worth every cent. The organisation is excellent, questions are answered promptly via WhatsApp, and personal requests are taken into account as far as possible. We were also provided cold drinks throughout the day (included), which is an absolute plus when the temperature is around 35 degrees. We can recommend Landious Travel. Thank you for the beautiful day.

Yesterday was remarkable for us, thanks to an exceptional tour guide who shared his extensive knowledge with passion and enthusiasm. The tour was tailored to our preferences, allowing us to explore the immaculately preserved Luxor and Madinet Habu temples without the usual crowds. The grandeur of the tombs in the Valley of the Kings left a lasting impression on us. I highly recommend this tour, along with Landious. The drivers were friendly, and the quality of the buses made the long journey from El Quseir a comfortable experience.
