What to Expect
Pick-up Service from your hotel
- You will be picked up by your Landious Travel representative from your hotel and taken to Luxor in an air-conditioned deluxe vehicle.
- Today's Luxor, located on the Nile in Upper Egypt, flourished on the site of ancient Thebes, one of the most important cities in the country's history. Historians estimate that it was listed as the largest city in the world twice in its history - the first time around 1980 BC, when it overtook the city of Ur, the capital of ancient Mesopotamia, and again around 1400 BC when it overtook Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt.
Tour to Karnak Temple
- Your first stop will be the famous Karnak Temple, the most prominent place of worship ever built, dating back over two thousand years. You will explore the complex of temples, including the impressive "Hypostyle Hall" with its colossal pillars.
- The most important monument of Luxor is the Karnak Temple Complex, where temples are dedicated to Theban gods. The largest and most important of them is the one dedicated to the god, Amon.
- The Karnak temple visit is, of course, a must-see on every tourist's list while visiting Egypt. With an experienced, knowledgeable, and passionate guide, our guests visit the Karnak Open Air Museum. The Karnak tours last about two hours because the Karnak Temple Complex occupies a huge area with temple complexes erected by several Egyptian rulers.
Lunch
- Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant.
Tour to the Colossi of Memnon
- Next, you'll visit the West Bank of the Nile to see the Colossi of Memnon. The Colossi of Memnon are two gigantic statues of Amenophis III that presided over his funerary temple on the west bank of the Nile at Luxor. The statues, built 3,400 years ago, show the pharaoh at ease, hands on his knees, gazing at the rising sun. His mother, Queen Mutemwiya, and his wife, Queen Tiy, are sculpted on the lower part of the statues.
Tour to the Valley of the Kings
- and then explore the Valley of the Kings, where you'll visit three magnificently decorated tombs carved deep into the desert rock. The Valley of the Kings, Wadi Biban el Muluk, has excited the interest and imagination of countless visitors over thousands of years.
- The rulers of the Eighteenth, Nineteenth, and Twentieth Dynasties of Egypt’s prosperous New Kingdom (c.1550–1069 BC) were buried in a desolate valley across the River from the ancient city of Thebes (modern Luxor), hence its modern name of the Valley of the Kings. The Valley of the Kings is divided into the East and West Valleys. The eastern is by far the more iconic of the two, as the western valley contains only a handful of tombs. In all, the Valley of the Kings includes over sixty tombs and an additional twenty unfinished ones that are little more than pits.
Tour to the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut
- Your tour continues with a visit to the impressive Hatshepsut Temple at El Deir El Bahary, dedicated to the only female pharaoh. Finally, you'll have some free time in Luxor before being driven back to your hotel.
