Tour to Giza Pyramids

Tour to Giza Pyramids

  • The tour will begin with a visit to the magnificent Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus. These ancient structures are considered some of the oldest architectural marvels among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as the Pyramid of Cheops, is particularly notable for having stood the test of time. It is believed to have been constructed as the final resting place of the revered Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu around 2560 BC, taking an impressive 14 to 20 years to complete.

Discover the Great Pyramid

Discover the Great Pyramid

  • Situated on the Giza Plateau, the Great Pyramid is a must-see landmark of ancient Egypt. The Great Pyramid, the tomb of King Khufu (c.2589–2566 BC), with its original height of 146.5 meters, was the tallest structure in the world for 3,800 years. It remains the last surviving member of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World and took an estimated 10 to 20 years to build. To this day, it is not entirely certain how it was built.
  • Additionally, the equally remarkable pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure can be found nearby. Adjacent to these structures are the more minor but significant queens' pyramids, which served as the tombs for Khufu's wives and sisters.

Admire the Pyramid of Menkaure

Admire the Pyramid of Menkaure

  • Menkaure (Mykerinos to the ancient Greeks; c.2532–2503 BC) is the builder of the third of the three large Giza Pyramids. He was most likely the son of Khafre (Chefren) and grandson of Khufu (Cheops). With a base area that is less than a quarter of their pyramids’, and with an original height of 65 meters, Menkaure’s is by far the smallest of the three. This size reduction is due to several factors, including the limited amount of space left on the Giza Plateau. The material used for the outer casing of Menkaure’s pyramid is another. Whereas his predecessors had used limestone for this purpose, Menkaure employed granite, which was quarried in Aswan, over 800 km away. In addition to the logistics involved in the transportation of the granite blocks, the material itself is much harder than limestone. However, only the bottom quarter of the casing stones are made of granite, the rest being limestone.

Admire the Pyramid of Khafre

Admire the pyramid of khafre

  • Khafre Pyramid is the second largest pyramid in Egypt, only about 10 meters lower than the Great Pyramid. The pyramid is unique in that the remains of the original cladding have been preserved in its upper part. Khafre built his pyramid at Giza next to his father’s pyramid, his pyramid complex is better preserved than others, thanks in part to an innovative construction method using massive limestone blocks enclosed in a sheath of thin-facing slabs. The entire complex served as a temple for the resurrected god-pharaoh after his funeral.

Stand in front of the Great Sphinx of Giza

Stand in front of the Amazing Sphinx of Giza

  • Colossal statues are one of the hallmarks of ancient Egyptian civilization, and the Great Sphinx of Giza is the most famous. It was carved directly out of the bedrock during the 4th Dynasty (c.2613–2494 BC), which also makes it the oldest. Ancient Egyptian sphinxes represented the king with the body of a lion, in a clear demonstration of his power.

Discover the Valley Temple of Khafre

Discover the Valley Temple of Khafre

  • The mortuary temple of Khafre at the foot of his pyramid and the valley temple at the end of the causeway are larger than any of those of older pyramids, and also among the best preserved of the Old Kingdom. Another development in the reign of Khafre is the complexity of their layout, with the elements constituting his mortuary temple becoming the new standard that its later Old Kingdom counterparts would follow. A unique feature of Khafre’s complex is the inclusion of a colossal statue beside his valley temple the Great Sphinx. The valley temple is made of massive limestone blocks encased in granite, floors made of alabaster, and its wide hall features monolithic granite pillars.

Tour to the Egyptian Museum

Tour to the Egyptian Museum

  • The Egyptian Museum in downtown Cairo was constructed in 1901 by Khedive Abbas Helmi II. The façade of the museum proudly displays the first two initials of his name, A.H., serving as a reminder of its rich history. With the contributions of renowned Egyptologists such as Petri, Marriete, and Maspero, this museum has become one of the largest in the world, housing a vast collection of over 120,000 artefacts. Situated overlooking the iconic square, named initially "Ismaileya" Square, it was later renamed "Al Tahrir Square," meaning Liberation Square. This square holds great significance as it was the site of the Egyptian Revolution on January 25, 2011, and its subsequent wave on June 30, 2013.

Grand Egyptian Museum

This mega museum in Giza will showcase Tutankhamun’s burial treasures for the first time, all at the same place, including 2,000 artefacts that have never been made public before. A visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum is a highlight of your Egypt tour.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is situated on 50 hectares (120 acres) of land approximately two kilometres from the Giza pyramids and is part of a new master plan for the plateau.

The building of the museum has a unique beauty. Although it will not rival the beauty of the Giza pyramids it looks like foldings in the desert sand. The Facade of the museum is geometrical in shape with alabaster stone. The museum is designed to line up with the Great Pyramid of Khufu and Menkaure.

The museum building is shaped like a chamfered triangle and while the front of the building has a translucent stone wall, it is the atrium inside that you will marvel at when you arrive.

The museum will house about 100,000 artefacts spanning a history of 7000 years of Egyptian history. With the latest technology in its halls.

One of the artefacts that has been recently transported to the museum is the thirty-foot-high granite statue of King Ramses II. The statue is more than three thousand years old and weighs about eighty-three tons. The statue was placed in a cage that was constructed specifically for the transport, and it was surrounded by a mounted military guard and a marching band for the journey. Once it arrived at the new Grand Egyptian Museum, it was placed inside the atrium where it will greet you every time you walk through the front doors.

While you are visiting this museum, you will be able to wander through exhibition galleries and watch a 3D movie within the cinema. It may be the ancillary buildings, restaurants, and shops that pique your interest the most after you have completed your exploration of history.

Virtual reality has also been incorporated into this new museum space, so every visitor will be able to incorporate the latest in technology during their visit. There is nothing better than feeling like you are being transported back in time as you are experiencing seeing these items for the first time.

What you will see, is the Hanging Obelisk Square in front of the museum, the atrium, the Children’s Museum, the Immersive Hall, the outdoor areas, and retail and food and beverage outlets, which include leading Egyptian brands.

Entry to the atrium will afford access to a selection of remarkable artefacts, including the colossus of Rameses II, the 10 Statues of Senusret, the Sakkara Cannon, the victory column of Meneptah, in addition to the Ptolemaic King and Queen statues.

All other museum interior spaces, including access to the main galleries and the two Tutankhamun galleries, will remain closed in preparation for the full site opening.

    Amazing trip

Posted by Angela Puca on 19th Aug 2024

I had been searching for a more affordable option than the expensive tour offered by the hotel operator for our trip to Luxor. That's when I stumbled across Landious Travel online and immediately liked what I saw. They responded to my inquiry within 5 minutes and allowed us to customize our trip, even late at night. The staff patiently addressed all our questions and accommodated changes to our itinerary, ensuring a fantastic and seamless experience. The transfer was punctual, and we were picked up from our hotel. Our tour guide was excellent, offering extensive knowledge and using visuals to enhance our understanding. He went above and beyond to ensure our comfort, providing advice on navigating through local vendors and ensuring all our needs were met. The optional Nile cruise also provided a peaceful 35-minute journey with refreshments and insightful discussions about Egyptian culture, daily life, and more. I highly recommend adding this to your tour for a nominal fee. The highlight was the rooftop lunch at a charming restaurant overlooking the Nile, where we enjoyed a traditional four-course meal. Our guide surprised us with an extra photo stop before returning and provided detailed information about the additional sight. I highly recommend Landious Travel and will book with them for future trips, avoiding the costly hotel tour packages.

    Unique team

Posted by Georgina Rose on 19th Aug 2024

A friendly and skilled driver picked us up promptly at 3 o'clock from our hotel in Hurghada. Upon arriving in Cairo, our group of 7 met our knowledgeable Egyptologist, who took us on a comprehensive tour of the Egyptian Museum. He adeptly answered all our questions, providing us with a deep understanding of the exhibits. As we traversed Cairo, he shared fascinating insights, enriching our experience. The restaurant where we dined offered a breathtaking view of the pyramids, and the atmosphere was delightful, with delicious food and immaculate surroundings. Our guide explained the intricacies of the pyramids, allowing us to appreciate their historical and cultural significance. With our guide, we had the flexibility to tailor our itinerary, affording us the freedom to linger at places of interest. Our driver was accommodating and patient, ensuring our journey was smooth, even as we made spontaneous stops. Our excursion didn't conclude until nearly 8 pm, and it was indeed an extraordinary experience. Our heartfelt thanks go to Landious and the team for an unforgettable adventure.

The tour organizer deserves five stars

Posted by Marina Hyde on 16th Aug 2024

The tour organizer deserves five stars in our book. Everything was meticulously planned, the communication was seamless, and we always received prompt responses. Our driver, Ali, based in Hurghada, went above and beyond by taking us to an ATM two days before the trip when the one at the hotel was out of order. Ali was incredibly amiable, always on time, and provided us with valuable insights. His command of the English language was impressive, too. Upon our arrival in Cairo, we were greeted by our Egyptologist, who shared fascinating information about Cairo as we made our way to the pyramids. We had to wait a short while at the pyramids due to their early opening, but this unexpected delay was a blessing. We enjoyed the site all to ourselves—no vendors, camel drivers, or other tourists in our photos. Next, we navigated through Cairo traffic and arrived at the Egyptian Museum, where our guide provided rich insights into the country's culture. We then savoured a delightful lunch right by the Nile, providing a perfect moment of relaxation. Our visit to the Coptic quarter was equally rewarding. However, our time in Cairo felt far too brief. We are eagerly looking forward to planning a return trip, this time allocating at least two days to explore this vibrant city in greater depth.

    A great experience!

Posted by Benjamin Crowley on 16th Aug 2024

During our journey, we embarked on a private tour from Hurghada to Cairo, which included visits to the Egyptian Museum, the pyramids, and the Sphinx. As a couple, we were thrilled with the experience. The tour was impeccably organized, with all arrangements communicated via WhatsApp. Our driver picked us up from the hotel promptly at 2:30 a.m. The car was in excellent condition, equipped with air conditioning, and well-maintained. We felt safe throughout the trip. An English-speaking tour guide joined us in Cairo and led us through the Egyptian Museum. Their explanations of the exhibits were insightful, ensuring we didn't miss anything significant. Navigating the museum without a guide would have been challenging, as many displays were unlabeled. Following lunch, we ventured to the pyramids and the Sphinx. The guide shared the history of these iconic landmarks, allowing us to explore the area on our own afterwards. Our driver then took us to a hill near the pyramids, offering us a spectacular view of all three massive structures. Afterwards, we returned to Hurghada, arriving at the hotel around 8:30 p.m. The tour was lengthy and tiring due to the considerable travel time, but the unforgettable experiences made it more than worthwhile. Our driver, Michael, and the tour guide were gracious and hospitable. Payment for the tour was settled directly with the guide in cash. We would not hesitate to book with this provider again and recommend this excursion.

    I would highly recommend Landious

Posted by Lydia Leong on 16th Aug 2024

The whole experience was quite an adventure. We were initially unsure about arranging everything through WhatsApp, but with all the flights to Cairo fully booked, we had no other choice. So, we arranged for a private car ride through WhatsApp. To our relief, everything went smoothly. At 2:30 a.m., Ali, our driver, stood in front of our hotel on time. He was incredibly friendly, and we enjoyed chatting and laughing during the long drive. He safely brought us to Cairo, where we met our tour guide. Our guide was also extremely friendly and knowledgeable, answering all our questions about the country and its people. Our first stop was the pyramids, followed by an exhilarating camel ride for an extra charge – an experience worth it! After a delicious lunch, we visited the museum, where our guide enthusiastically explained everything. After the city tour, we returned to our hotel at 8:30 p.m. with many unforgettable memories. Despite the exhausting hours of the day trip, the opportunity to learn so much about the culture, the country, and the people made it an experience I wouldn't have wanted to miss. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

    Cairo á la carte

Posted by Rebecca Sugar on 12th Aug 2024

During our recent trip to Egypt, my partner and I booked three fantastic excursions through Landious Travel. We had the pleasure of experiencing the "Cairo á la carte," a memorable swimming with dolphins adventure in Hurghada, and a fantastic Abu Dabbab snorkelling trip with the opportunity to swim with turtles. Having visited Egypt eight times, mainly in the Red Sea region, we consider ourselves experienced travellers who can appreciate the typical conditions of Egyptian travel. We are easygoing and open-minded, seeking to make the most of our adventures. While staying at a luxurious 5-star hotel in El Gouna, we encountered high-priced excursions recommended by the hotel staff. Feeling sceptical about the exorbitant costs, we explored other options and stumbled upon Landious Travel online. Our decision to book the "Cairo á la carte" excursion through Landious Travel was a game-changer. The booking process was surprisingly simple and quick, as we communicated our spontaneous request via WhatsApp. The staff member we interacted with was amiable and efficiently organized our trip. What impressed us the most was the absence of any pressure to make payments during the journey. We appreciated the transparent and hassle-free approach. Our private excursion to Cairo was a "wow" experience in every aspect. The private driver and guide provided exceptional service, with the bonus of chilled soft drinks in the car. We could customize our itinerary, choosing up to four sights we wanted to explore in Cairo. The driver's warmth and genuine pride in his job made the journey even more delightful. In Cairo, our guide's in-depth knowledge as an Egyptologist enriched our experience, offering personalized explanations and engaging conversations. We explored iconic landmarks such as the pyramids of Giza and enjoyed a captivating trip down the Nile, immersing ourselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the bazaar. Impressed by the exceptional service during our Cairo trip, we eagerly booked two more excursions through Landious Travel within a week. Our experiences on the Dolphin House group trip and the private Abu Dabbab snorkelling adventure were equally fantastic, confirming that our initial positive impression was consistent across multiple excursions. We are thrilled to have found a reliable and outstanding travel agency in Landious Travel.

During our private day trip from Soma Bay to Cairo with Landious Travel, we were thrilled with the exceptional service we received. Our group of 5 had a private minibus that was remarkably well-equipped and in excellent condition. The two drivers were friendly and skilled, and our tour guide was outstanding. His flawless English, thorough explanations, and pleasant demeanour made the experience enjoyable. We felt incredibly well taken care of throughout the trip. The punctuality of the minibus was impressive, and the entire excursion was flawlessly organized. Our expectations were met and surpassed, and I wholeheartedly recommend Landious Travel to anyone seeking a genuinely satisfying travel experience.

    Really great day in Cairo

Posted by Lisa Schofield on 26th Jul 2024

I stumbled upon Landious while browsing the internet, which inspired me to plan a vacation in Egypt. Without hesitation, I promptly booked a holiday package to Hurghada and arranged two excursions through Landious. In less than 10 minutes, I connected with the tour operator via WhatsApp. They swiftly addressed my preferences and sent over the booking confirmation. Today, I embarked on a remarkable trip to Cairo. The driver arrived punctually at my hotel and whisked me away. Upon reaching Cairo, a knowledgeable English-speaking guide, who seemed like a walking encyclopedia, joined us. Our first stop was the Egyptian Museum, where the guide captivated me with a journey through Egyptian history. The visit to the pyramids was incredibly emotional, and I was nearly moved to tears. Our adept driver expertly navigated Cairo's bustling streets, ensuring we were always in the midst of the action. I absorbed incredible information that could rival a full year of schooling. We wrapped up the day with a delightful lunch featuring authentic Egyptian cuisine before bidding farewell to our guide. The journey back was smooth and safe, with well-timed stops for restroom breaks and a chance to stretch our legs. I'm eagerly anticipating my upcoming excursion to Luxor with Landious. Based on this fantastic experience, I wholeheartedly endorse Landious!

Museum, Nile cruise, Sphinx and pyramids

Posted by Elizabeth Bryan on 26th Jul 2024

We had a fantastic day in Cairo. Our tour departed from Marsa Alam at 12:15 pm, and the driver was very punctual. We arrived in Cairo around 9 am and visited the museum, where we were the first to arrive. Our tour guide, who spoke excellent English, provided valuable information. We then enjoyed a short boat ride on the Nile and continued our tour through the city, learning a great deal about the area. Later, we had a wonderful meal at a restaurant overlooking the pyramids. After dinner, we headed straight to the Sphinx and the three pyramids; our guide even took great pictures of us there.
